High Fidelity Top of Line Modelling

The applicability of models developed in small diameter test pipelines to larger flowlines prevalent particularly in the offshore gas industry is an open question. At present, most correlations have been developed under these circumstances, and laboratory capabilities are typically at the small scale. Through a collaboration with Dassault Systems and IFE, we aim to use state of the art, high fidelity modelling techniques that consider fundamental principles of fluid flow to better understand the scaling of phase entrainment to large pipelines. This will give us the confidence to understand how corrosion and hydrate formation act in these large lines, and will give context to the experimental work produced by IFE.
